FocusComet is for personal, non-commercial use only.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
You agree not to reverse-engineer, modify, or redistribute any part of the app.
Premium subscriptions are billed through the Google Play Store and managed via RevenueCat.
Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
To cancel, manage your subscription through the Google Play Store.
We do not offer refunds beyond what is required by applicable law or Google Play policy.

All content, design, and code in FocusComet — including the name, logo, and cosmos theme — are owned by Maroon Door and protected by copyright law. You may not reproduce or redistribute any part of the app without written permission.

FocusComet is provided 'as is' without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any loss of data, productivity, or other damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the past 12 months.

We may update these terms as the app evolves. We will notify you via an in-app notice when significant changes are made. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Our commitment to your data privacy.

FocusComet is a focus and digital wellness app. We built it with a simple principle: your personal habits and usage data are yours. We collect only what is strictly necessary to make the app work, and we never sell or share your data with advertisers or third parties.

Which apps are installed on your device
Which apps you use and for how long (app usage stats)
Your blocked app selections and focus profiles
Individual session timestamps and durations

This data is processed entirely on-device using Android's UsageStatsManager API. It is never transmitted to our servers.

If you create an account, we store the following in Firebase (Google Cloud):

Your email address and display name (used for your account — never shown to other users)
Total focus minutes, current streak, and daily goal settings
Focus session records (date, duration, profile name — no app-level detail)
Leaderboard profile: username (chosen by you), emoji, optional city/country, star count
Focus profile names, colours, and settings (no app lists)
Notification preferences, FCM token (for push notifications), and timezone

Guest users (browsing anonymously) have all data stored locally only. If you later create an account, your local data is migrated to your account.

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases to process your data:

Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to provide the FocusComet service you signed up for: focus sessions, profiles, leaderboard, subscriptions.
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for analytics, crash reporting, and any product-improvement telemetry. You can grant or withdraw consent at any time via Settings → Manage privacy choices.
Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for limited security and fraud-prevention operations on our backend.
Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where we must retain records to comply with tax, accounting, or other applicable law.

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right of access (Art. 15) — request a copy of all data we hold about you. Use Settings → Export my data for an instant JSON export.
Right to rectification (Art. 16) — correct inaccurate data. Edit your profile in Settings → My account.
Right to erasure (Art. 17) — delete your account and all associated data. Use Settings → Delete my account.
Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18) — ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved.
Right to data portability (Art. 20) — receive your data in a machine-readable format. The Export my data feature returns standards-compliant JSON.
Right to object (Art. 21) — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3)) — turn off analytics/crash reporting in Settings → Manage privacy choices at any time.
Right to lodge a complaint (Art. 77) — contact your local supervisory authority if you believe we've mishandled your data.

To exercise rights not available in-app, email support@focuscomet.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Your data is stored in Google Firebase, which may transfer data to the United States. These transfers are protected by the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission and the UK ICO, as part of Google Cloud's Data Processing Addendum.

RevenueCat and Mixpanel also process data in the United States under SCCs.

Usage Access — to know which apps are open so focus sessions can work. On-device only.
Do Not Disturb — to silence notifications during focus sessions. Never used otherwise.
Notifications — to send streak reminders and session alerts you opt into.
Notification Access (Premium) — to block notifications from specific apps during focus, rather than silencing everything via Do Not Disturb.

You can revoke any permission at any time from Android Settings.

Account sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google). We support email/password login. We do not store passwords — Firebase handles all credential management securely.

Account data — kept for as long as your account is active.
Focus session history — capped at the most recent 500 sessions per account.
Crash logs (when consented) — retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
Analytics events (when consented) — retained by Firebase Analytics for up to 14 months.
Backup deletion grace period — after you delete your account in-app, residual data is purged from backups within 30 days.

To delete your account immediately, use Settings → Delete my account. All Firestore data tied to your account is wiped at the moment you confirm; the FirebaseAuth user is deleted in the same operation. If you cannot access the app, email support@focuscomet.com and we'll process the deletion within 30 days.

Guest data stored in local SharedPreferences is removed when you tap Delete my account or when you uninstall the app.

Firebase (Google) — authentication, cloud storage, and usage analytics. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
RevenueCat — subscription management. Processes purchase receipts only.
Mixpanel — product analytics. Tracks in-app events (sessions, screens, upgrades) to help us improve the experience. No personal content is shared.

We do not use any advertising SDKs or sell your data to third parties.

FocusComet is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where the GDPR or local law requires a higher age for digital consent (16 in some EU countries), parents or guardians are responsible for supervising their child's use.

We comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@focuscomet.com and we will delete it promptly.

If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the following rights:

Right to know what personal information we collect about you (see "What We Sync to Our Servers" above).
Right to delete your personal information — use Settings → Delete my account.
Right to correct inaccurate information — edit your profile in Settings → My account.
Right to opt out of analytics — use Settings → Manage privacy choices.
Right to non-discrimination — FocusComet works the same whether you exercise these rights or not.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your data to train any AI/ML models.

To exercise rights not available in-app, email support@focuscomet.com. We will respond within 45 days.

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may contact us directly at support@focuscomet.com for any privacy-related inquiry. We are in the process of appointing a designated EU representative under Article 27 of the GDPR; their details will be published here once the appointment is finalized.

If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. A list of EU supervisory authorities is maintained at edpb.europa.eu. UK residents can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
